Ladies, I need your help with something. The Area Director Chris Chiles of an organization that I am a committee member of needs this question answered because he is trying develop a curriculum for the group of young guys that he see's regularly.

  1. There are a few key items I share with my students in terms of entering the workforce.
    -Professionalism (firm handshake, look the interviewer or supervisor in the eye, be on time).
    -Knowledge (if you are going for an interview, research the company. They like to know you've done your homework).
    -Don't oversell yourself. Sound intelligent, discuss the skills and knowledge you have that will benefit the company but do not lie about your KSA's (knowledge, skills and ability). This may hurt you in the long run.
    -Be willing to start out in a lower position and work your way up, stop thinking you're "too good" to do the grunt work. Sometimes it's part of the growth process.
