Stanley Black & Decker has an immediate opportunity for an Administrative Assistant located in Bethesda, MD. This position will report to the Retired Executive Chairman of the Board for Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.



Job Specifications


·     Proactively manages personal and professional properties, scheduling, travel, and expense reconciliation.

·     Serves as the primary scheduling interface in the planning and delivery of various activities.

·     Proactively reviews email communications and other requests identifying actions requiring attention and / or responses with highlighted timeframes and deliverables.  As delegated, may respond on behalf of the Executive Chairman within prescribed parameters.

·    Continually identifies opportunities to streamline functional activities while enabling the Executive Chairman to focus on initiatives rather than function logistics. 

·     Perform various administrative duties including but not limited to screening incoming phone calls, starting conference calls, submitting expense reports, printing documents, copying and filing, drafting and distributing memos and notes, maintaining spreadsheets and directories, etc.

·     Provides additional support, but not limited to, the following areas:

·     Manages calendar and high volume of meeting requests

·     Arranges complex travel plans and create detailed itineraries

·     Prepares documents and materials for various meetings
·     Serves as a delegate in multiple approval systems


 Employee Specifications

5-10 years of Executive Assistant experience.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong project management capabilities are required.

  • High degree of attention to detail while also being tenacious with execution.

  • The successful candidate will exhibit the leadership qualities of stretch, boundaryless & speed with a high degree of accountability.

  • Work on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours a week) during core business hours at the Bethesda, MD office with ability to respond to emergency requests during non-core hours.

  • Other key competencies include:

    • Speed and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook including emails and coordinating calendars

    • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail

    • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change

Through its offices in the US and Peru, MicroRate promotes growth in the global microfinance community by providing independent evaluations to create the transparency needed to facilitate the flow of funds from capital markets to this investment sector.
About the Position:
The job opening is a 1 to 2 days a week part-time position perfect for someone who is administratively skilled, would like a flexible schedule, and is interested in international development.
This position requires skills in many different tasks including but not limited to:
  • Preparing contracts/agreements with other companies
  • Managing online time tracking system and reporting; coordinating with health insurance broker; coordinating hiring of interns, etc.
  • Responding to information requests; managing files; answering phones; retrieving mail form P.O. box; ordering supplies; managing vendors; etc.
  • Coordinating with accountant to invoice clients; managing office accounts; monetary transactions; employee reimbursements; etc.
  • Liaising with office in Perú
The candidate will also provide support to the CEO as needed and will be expected to pick up the material quickly, be a creative problem solver, and take initiative with tasks.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (preferred) and/or related work experience to effectively meet the requirements of the position;
  • Strong proficiency with Quickbooks and MS Office Suite;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. Spanish language skills are desired, but not necessary;
  • Proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and work independently and in groups;
Working Environment:
This position is located in Arlington, VA. MicroRate’s HQ team is small and the work environment is friendly, close knit, and flexible. This position will be expected to work about 8-16 hours per week.
